All Training and Workshop sessions are MANDATORY. Every Monday and Wednesday 4:00pm, unless otherwise indicated. Please note, the Assembly Legislature may adjust the training as necessary.

The debate is March 27th 10:00 am - 3:00 p.m. at the Assembly Chamber, Jerningham Street, Scarborough.

Training sessions include: Parliamentary Procedures, Debating Skills and more. Additionally, you’ll receive tips on how to effectively debate for or against a motion and insights from subject matter experts, focusing on women, girls and healthcare.

Training sessions in: Parliamentary Procedures, Debating Skills, Research Techniques and more. Interact with subject-matter experts. Get tips from professionals on how to effectively debate FOR or AGAINST a Motion.

The Assembly Legislature appoints which debaters are either FOR or AGAINST the Motion. You are STRONGLY urged in your initial research phases to pull points and data from both sides until you are assigned your position.

Below, is the MOTION that will be debated:
WHEREAS the Tobago House of Assembly recognises that accessible and affordable childcare is essential to the well-being of families, women’s participation in the workforce, and the longterm sustainability of Tobago’s population;
AND WHEREAS the absence of adequate childcare facilities places a disproportionate burden on women, discourages family formation, and contributes to declining birth rates and population growth challenges;
AND WHEREAS the “Give to Gain” principle affirms that investing in childcare enables women to balance work and family life, supports child development, and creates conditions conducive to stable population growth;
BE IT RESOLVED that this Honourable House calls for the expansion and equitable provision of quality, affordable childcare facilities across Tobago;
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Assembly promotes policies encouraging shared caregiving responsibilities and work-life balance, recognising childcare investment as a strategic response to social stability and population growth.
